Some news.

Hi lads, has been a while since my last post, there has been a lot of things going on like my daughters moving abroad which has kept me away from water for two weeks now which in turn might be good for my left shoulder which has been aching very much now and then.

Murphy's law hit me also a week ago.Had tried to sell my boat for a long time without result but as soon as I had the Minn kota mounted to my kayak I found a serious buyer who also bought it.Unfortunately I was selling my boat with the bow motor included so my Big Rig is without a engine now after just three or four trips with it.
The deal also included a Hobie pro angler 14 coming my way so I'm a owner of two yaks now.
Have been so busy I don't even got a photo of it yet.Only a short testride has been done so far.
My new yak will be tested forthcoming weekend on our traditionally fishing camp,a report will follow next week.

And finally, there has been some more fly tying than usually with making some deceivers and of course Pike Skinz baitfish patterns. Also some flies made for only Wiggle tail use, tubes, hooks etc,etc

Fishing Sept.5 2015

Searching for new venues can be a pain in the ass, especially when you fish from a kayak and with fly.
Last months have been disappointments one after one even if I have study maps carefully etc,etc
Had not much expectations of this trip either which turned to be a awesome day out.
After all paddling and planning week in,week out it really felt rewarding to to find this spot which gave me and my friend some memories which help us to get thru the winter.

Tying a deciever fly.

I have lately tied different patterns, mostly baitfish pattern which is a awesome pattern especially for summer pikes and actually I have some new plans for synthetics for autumn.

My latest flies have been deciever variants,Which have worked pretty well too.
What I really appreciate with these flies are how easy they are to cast, restricts are imo that to tie a proper deciever you need bucktail of very, very good quality which sometime can be hard to find, also if you don't wanna blend or dye tails by yourself there's a limited colors available.
Anyway, with quality materials you can tie some awesome easy casting flies.
One important thing to remember is to not overdress it.
There are hundreds of videos how to tie different variants of these and I have snapped inspirations and ideas from them but was too lazy to make a video of my version but many people have asked about how I have tied mine so I decided to make an SBS of it.

As a hook I'm using a Partridge universal predator X size 6/0

First thin bundle is tied straight.

Choosing some quality dry hackle feathers.

Tied them two on each side.

Added a strand lateral scale on each side

Time for some marabou

A small bundle added on each side

Three-four mm gap and second bundle of bucktail reverse tied.

Wing'n'flash.

Thin layer of flash.

Thin bunches of bucktail.

Also this reverse tied, remember the gap.

Had to add some strands of bucktail to fill the gap.

Second rev.tied bunch ready.

Add some flash.

Last bunch reverse tied.

Almost there.

Wet the fly and leave it upside down until it's dry.

Ready for some rock'n'roll

Different colors.

Fishing Aug.29 2015

Made a small video of my fishing on  a windy but nice Saturday out on sea.
Most fishes were deep among the reeds so I had no choice than to go after them.To this kind of fishing I think a stable kayak is  perfect.
